Theoretical studies include the history of cinema from the invention of the camera through analyzing contemporary films.   Students will acquire tools for analyzing, understanding, appreciating and critiquing films utilizing the fundamentals of cinematic language: editing, sound, scripting and filming.

Different genres of film will be examined such as musicals, melodramas, gangster films, feminism in film, and of course emphasis will be placed on the Israel cinema and its different aspects: national films, personal films, ethnic entertainment.

The practical part focuses on the creative process of producing a film.  Students will produce       a short film (15 minutes) either fictional or a documentary.
